HISTORY

Chessie Motor Express was formed in 1980, following the Staggers Rail Act that deregulated the railroads. Not soon after the incorporation of Chessie Motor Express (CMX), the Chessie and Seaboard system mergers took place, ushering in the modern day CSX.
